From the Ocean .. to your Table

Fresh is always best, especially when it comes to oysters. At Straddie Oysters we believe in the farm to plate experience, providing a place where the public can meet the farmer and taste the Farm Fresh Oysters grown right here in Morten Bay. Our native Rock Oysters are distributed to restaurants and sold direct to public, fresh.

Choose from a sit down meal at one of our partnering restaurants, learn the art of shucking your own, or  come and meet the farmer down at the Dunwich Oyster Yard.

Everyone can enjoy the unique experience that comes with eating a freshly shucked oyster.

Our Oysters

The Moreton Bay Rock Oyster is a native oyster to Moreton Bay. Taking 3 years to grow to full size, Our farm takes pride in traditional catching of wild spat and nurturing the stages of growth for our wild babies.

Oysters are an integral part of the health of Moreton Bay and supporting oyster farms, supports the ecology of the bay.

As a family owned and operated Oyster Farm with a vision for Moreton Bay, We want to make it possible for everyone in our region to have the opportunity to try this truly unique food.
Straddie Oysters provides native oysters when in season (Spring/Summer) to events, markets, restaurants and direct to the public.

Local & Sustainable Farming

Moreton Bay Sea Farms works hard to ensure the environment in which we work is kept healthy and clean.  Catching the ever abundant wild spat native to our region both reduces carbon emissions and promotes the further growth and spawning of Native Rock Oysters.

Our oysters are naturally fed through the currents of the bay from the Pacific Ocean meaning there are no additives in our waters. Oysters are self-feeding maintaining their organic quality and native taste to our region.

Unlike other oyster farms, the logistics of getting oysters to and from our farm are minimal. Due to our Fresh is Best policy we service only the local region of Southeast Qld creating a boutique, niche, locally delicious product.

Oysters are also an integral part of the environment for Moreton Bay. Being master filter feeders they are an essential part of keeping the Bay waters clean. There are many projects along the Eastern coastline of Australia to rebuild the oyster reefs, providing not just clean filtered ocean waters, but safe and sustainable habitats for an abundant of sea life.

Oyster Shell is also collected and distributed into a variety of projects as per demand, some of which include land based projects, broken down for lime and calcium for feed or construction, artistic creations and oyster reef restoration projects.
